OR Assistant

As an OR Assistant, your exceptional organization and collaboration abilities assist in the operational success of the unit and patient outcomes. Location: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Department: Surgical Services Schedule: As Scheduled (D/E/N & Weekends) Attributes: One (1) year of patient care and/or operating room experience in an accredited hospital preferred Basic computer skills Demonstrated understanding of aseptic technique Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Responsibilities: General Maintenance: Obtain supplies required for case carts and sub-sterile areas; responsible for cleanliness and safety of environment for all those within it; transport specimens, cultures and medications within the hospital Collaboration: Work with team to provide smooth workflow in peri-operative setting; work as a team to accomplish room turnover Patient Care: Assist in the transporting and positioning of patients as directed Education: Licenses/Certifications: Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
