Grant Writer

Under the direct oversight of the Director of Program Development, the Grant Writer is responsible for developing and submitting grant applications and proposals that align with San Ysidro Health (SYHealth) organizational needs and strategic planning. The position is responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing grant proposals, and the compilation and submission of funding proposals and grant applications as approved by SYHealth executive team. Essential Functions of the Job

Develop and submit complete, well-written, and accurate funding proposals and grant applications that are consistent with SYHealth quality standards. Conduct data queries and research using both internal and external sources. Thoroughly review Requests for Proposals (RFP), Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO), and grant-related instructions to ensure that the program design, project narrative, budget, reporting, and other grant-specific requirements of the funder are addressed in the proposal. Work closely with the department director or their designee to learn about and gain a thorough understanding of the program/project being proposed for the funding. Serve as the internal lead and primary point of contact for assigned grant projects. Provide grant budget development support as needed. Coordinate with the Grant Accounting Manager or their designee throughout the budget development process. Maintain understanding of SYHealth organizational history, structure, objectives, programs, strategic plan, and financial needs. Coordinate planning discussions with multi-level positions throughout the health center. Maintain complete and organized grant files, including all grant development drafts and documents, applications/proposals, award letters, reports, relevant correspondence with the grant agency, etc. Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in trainings, workshops, and conferences. Attends meeting as required and participates on committees as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Job Requirements

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree required Experience Required:

0 years of experience required. 3 years of grant writing at a professional level is preferred. Experience in a nonprofit organization, community clinic, or other health care environment preferred. Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:

Excellent written and verbal communication required. Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

Experience and knowledge with Microsoft Office Software. Knowledge of government and private funding sources and practices. Excellent grammar and writing. Strong research skills and a broad knowledge of sources of information and statistics at national, state, and county levels. Equipment Used:

Personal Computer. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Office environment and prolonged periods of sitting, occasional visits to clinic and program sites. Universal Requirements:
