The orthopedic population of patients includes total joint replacements, trauma, and orthopedic oncology. The orthopedic department at MGH has one of the only specified orthopedic oncology programs on the East Coast. The urology population is varied in acuity from stone removal to prostatectomy. This unit also takes on Surgery overflow patients. The patient care delivery model is a patient-focused model, supported by the primary nursing team. Patient-focused care is high quality, comprehensive, accessible, supportive and personalized care. Job Summary Responsible for patient care, collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of healthcare are maintained through skilled nursing expertise, support, and patient advocacy, all while under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols. Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and assist in treatments and procedures. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Educate patients and families on health management and post-care instructions. Uphold infection control measures to ensure a safe clinical environment. Respond efficiently and effectively to emergent situations, demonstrating sound judgment and critical thinking skills. Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree Nursing required and Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred Licenses and Credentials: Registered Nurse, MA Experience: Hospital or managed care experience 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
