Mass General Brigham Behavioral & Mental Health Resource Specialist

MGB Behavioral & Mental Health is an enterprise clinical service that supports and collaborates with all behavioral health departments and services across Mass General Brigham. Reporting to the Behavioral & Mental Health Inpatient Program Manager, the Resource Specialist supports system initiatives by remotely supporting behavioral health services across Mass General Brigham's emergency departments, medical floors, and behavioral health inpatient units. The Resource Specialist works closely with the Program Manager, the Behavioral & Mental Health access team, and behavioral health stakeholders systemwide to facilitate initiatives that improve patient throughput and access. Principal Duties And Responsibilities: Facilitate referrals for various levels of behavioral health care for patients awaiting treatment across several MGB emergency departments, medical/surgical units, and inpatient behavioral health units Monitor system-wide capacity to help guide placement efforts Communicate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams both within and outside of MGB Document and track tasks in medical record (Epic) or elsewhere as indicated Assist with data collection and tracking, data analysis (Excel), and reporting (PowerPoint) Receive and promptly respond to phone calls to central behavioral health call line, emails/faxes to central behavioral health inbox, and Teams chats from systemwide stakeholders Provide cross-coverage of tasks related to central access (supporting admissions and bed searches) and central disposition (supporting inpatient throughput) Attend department meetings and assist with other department tasks as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred; concentration in Social Work, Psychology or Health Care preferred Experience with the mental health care field Excellent written and verbal communication skills Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required: Excellent judgement and organizational skills; evidenced ability to successfully multitask Ability to be flexible and resourceful Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Assessment and problem-solving skills Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress, high-pressure, fast-paced environments Familiarity with mental health treatments and services, systems of care and community resources Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams Ability to work independently Additional Job Details (if applicable): Per diem employees are required to work at least one shift per month and 3 holiday shifts per year. Priority will be given to candidates with weekday (day or evening), overnight, and holiday flexibility as these are the shifts with most common coverage needs.
