Conducts activities related to the successful implementation of product strategies which include planning, sourcing, marketing, and promotional activities. Manages the product throughout the lifecycle from gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements to defining strategies and long term vision. Develops strong relationships with multiple suppliers, sales teams, and field operations. Improves sales growth by creating effective and meaningful product programs. Creates market share penetration through creative and adaptable programs. Maintains product line's competitive position through market and product research. Improves programs through research and creativity. Researches, analyses, and qualifies manufacturers and suppliers for company programs. Manages relationships with third party vendors to ensure service levels, avoid supply problems, and improve communications. Contacts vendors regarding issues such as billing or information transfers. Creates, designs, and implements national product sales programs and promotions on applicable product lines on an ongoing basis. Measures differences between vendors by evaluating net profit, program attributes, and coverage. Develops programs and strategies that leverage industry information and creative solutions to build market share. Works with vendors to adjust program features as company needs arise. Distributes plan information to various departments within the company including classification, catalog, marketing, sales, finance, IT etc. Acts as a liaison between company and vendors to provide accurate and timely information. Researches and solves issues as required. Maintains a significant level of knowledge of industry, technology, trends, competitor business objectives and results, corporate profile, and results. Becomes product line expert by researching product functionality, benefits, and how product programs affect company markets. Maintains networks through business community, professional, and industry associations. Initiates regular communication with management on business issues, plans, and results. Provides accurate sales projections and utilize strategic planning to improve sales results. Produces regular reports on product lines and creates ad hoc reporting as needed. Manages the development of marketing and advertising materials and plans. Works with outside agency, internal marketing, suppliers, and other departments as needed to develop promotional plans for assigned product lines. Implements quarterly sales plans for product line promotions by creating a marketing calendar and provides communications to appropriate field and headquarters teams. Attends and participates in training seminars. 3+ years of experience in product management or comparable experience. Experience in the automotive parts aftermarket is a benefit. A four-year business related degree preferred, equivalent business experience considered. Demonstrated business acumen, including a thorough understanding of what drives revenue growth and profitability. An understanding of current market conditions and future indicators, a market-focused approach to the business, and a big picture understanding of the business and its interrelationships. Demonstrated success defining and launching products and programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent teamwork skills. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. Strong interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, and coaching skills. Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills. Work is performed in a typical office environment. Minimal travel required (up to 10% of time).
