Manager, Aspiring Teachers Program

KIPP Jacksonville seeks a Manager of the Aspiring Teachers Program. These managers provide focused development, support, and structure specifically around creating a positive classroom culture to individuals launching a career in urban public education as a Sr. Guest Educator. Our Aspiring Teachers Program is ideal for recent graduates or people with experience in an educational setting who just haven't yet obtained teacher certification. There will be two Managers of the Aspiring Teachers Program (MATP) who will each manage a caseload of Sr. Guest Educators across schools and serve as their coach. Coaching includes observing, providing regular feedback based on an established framework, meeting with Sr. Guest Educators one one-on-one, designing and leading professional development tracks for the Aspiring Teachers cohort, and working closely with key stakeholders to ensure Sr. Guest Educators are meeting the requirements of the program. The bulk of coaching and support from an MATP is focused on a positive classroom environment and the structures, mindsets, and tools needed for a joyful, engaged classroom culture to be realized. While the MATP is not expected to be an expert on all contents and grade levels, the MATP should know best practices for instruction and support other professional areas such as lesson internalization and professionalism. In addition to supporting new teachers in the classroom, Managers of the Aspiring Teachers Program are responsible for supporting the larger talent team with the recruitment and selection of Sr. Guest Educators for the program. This would include attending recruitment events, some levels of external outreach, and supporting the selection process. MATPS sometimes sit in on interviews and help support schools with placement recommendations. Their goals center on Sr. Guest Educator retention and matriculation into the Lead Teacher role while also supporting the talent team's larger outreach and recruitment goals. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for creating spaces that affirm our students and staff and for quality learning environments for all children. Ideal candidates have excellent relationship-building and communication skills and the ability to support new teachers.
