Assistant Professor Of Physics (Open)

Instructional duties include teaching 12 credit hours of undergraduate courses and laboratories in physics and/or engineering at the introductory and advanced levels as well as contributing to the general physics and engineering curricula. Faculty members are expected to participate in campus service activities and maintain an active program or scholarship that includes mentoring students in research projects. This faculty member reports to the chair of the Physics department, Dr. Steven Binz. This faculty member does not have budgetary responsibility or authority over other SU employees. A Ph.D. or equivalent in physics or engineering must be completed before the date of hire. Candidates must have effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. A commitment to serving a diverse student body and promoting an equitable and inclusive learning environment in the classroom is also required. Candidates from all areas of physics, engineering, and astronomy will be considered. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to the intellectual vibrancy of our physics department through their teaching, academic and/or educational research, and service to the university and community at large, and who are committed to working effectively with a diverse student population. The position is a full-time, exempt state role with comprehensive benefits. Priority will be given to applicants who apply by August 4, 2025. However, the position will remain open until filled.
