Associate Underwriter
Berkley Specialty Excess provides excess and surplus lines coverages for mid-market companies with hardto place, specialized risks including, environmental (excess and primary); excess energy and excess for other industry verticals to be developed with the possibility of including excess general casualty that involve moderate to high degrees of hazard and require highly negotiated terms to meet buyer's needs. The distribution of products is limited to industry specialized brokers, wholesale for all products and large retail brokers for environmental products. The company is an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities
The Associate Underwriter will work in a team setting underwriting and servicing renewal accounts for the development and retention of our Environmental line of business. Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business. Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines. Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit. Adherence to Berkley Specialty Excess underwriting guidelines and referral compliance. Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships. Participates in all internal company training and continuing education. Remains current on product releases as it pertains to Environmental line of business. Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Prior work experience 2-3 years in Risk Management, Environmental or Insurance industry(s) preferable. Strong organization skills. Ability to manage deadlines effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be a collaborative team player and ability to relate and communicate with all members of the organization. Basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer. Education Bachelor's Degree required.
