Join our class as a Nursing Assistant Student and embark on a rewarding journey to prepare to sit and test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). As a Nursing Assistant Student you will:Learn knowledge and skills to provide compassionate careParticipate in a dynamic course which meets Oregon State Board of Nursing requirementsWork alongside healthcare professionals, gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in patient careCollaborate with your fellow students in direct learning experiences in a lab, classroom and clinical settingsPrepare to take OSBN (Oregon State Board of Nursing) Certification examClassroom portion is a total of 10 days (4 days per week) and the Clinical portion is a total of 5 days. In addition to classroom and clinical hours, we include 2 certification testing preparation days and an opportunity to test at the institute. ProgramOutcomes:Describe the health care team andthe roles of the nurse assistantIdentify the scope of practice forthe nurse assistant, including ethical and legal responsibilities to thepatient/residentProvide quality and safe nurseassistant care in performance of procedure skills for the patient/residentApply knowledge and skills whencaring for a patient/resident with acute, chronic, or terminal health careneedsDemonstrate assisting withrehabilitation and restorative nursing care to the adult and older adult CourseDescription: The Nursing Assistant course of Sapphire Health Services Nursing Assistant Training Program is designed to prepare students to pass the Certified Nursing Assistant test offered through Oregon State Board Nursing. Students are not employees. Employment opportunities for students are available with one of our Sapphire locations upon successful course completion. Employees of Sapphire Health Services are eligible for tuition reimbursement for Healthcare Professional Courses including nursing school after 1-year of successful employment.Nursing Assistant (NA) Responsibilities:Provide residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toiletingMaintain resident confidentialityBe an integral part of the team caring for Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation residentsAs a Nursing Assistant (NA) with Sapphire you will foster a supportive, compassionate environment for our residents and their familiesSupport residents with mobility and transfers, ensuring their comfort and safetyAid with feeding and ensuring residents receive proper nutritionLearn to measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulseObserve and report any changes in resident health status to supervising nursesProvide emotional support and companionship to residentsAs a Nursing Assistant (NA) you will engage resident activities to enhance their physical and emotional well-beingGain hands-on experience with basic clinical procedures under the supervision of licensed nursesPractice infection control protocols and safety proceduresAssist with maintaining accurate patient recordsCommunicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team membersOther duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of ageStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work in a face paced environmentWillingness to learn and take direction from experienced staffLanguage proficiency: Must be proficient in English to effectively communicate with residents and healthcare team members.
