Overview:
The Material Handling Equipment Operator plays a critical role in efficiently managing inventory through the operation of forklifts and other equipment. You will be responsible for moving, storing, stacking, and counting merchandise within a warehouse environment. Safety and efficiency are paramount, and you may also take on duties related to order filling and checking. This position involves operating sit-down and clamp forklifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely stack and store merchandise using forklifts and related equipment.
  • Unload inbound shipments and transport products to designated storage locations.
  • Prepare products for efficient shipment.
  • Verify the accuracy of loaded products, ensuring the correct quantity and type.
  • Perform picking tasks that meet customer service standards with efficiency.
  • Move products from staging or storage areas into trailers.
  • Follow established safety protocols while operating equipment.
  • Keep accurate records to support inventory control and security.
  • Assist with physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Conduct cycle counts when requested.
  • Utilize Excel and general computer skills effectively.
  • Report safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Address inventory discrepancies in collaboration with the inventory control team.
  • Complete equipment inspection forms before operation.
  • Operate RF scanning equipment to maintain inventory accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 months' experience operating forklifts or warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to stand or walk for 10-12 hours.
  • Capability to lift and/or pull 50 lbs without restrictions.
  • Engage in regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
  • Comfortable walking across distribution center facilities that span over a quarter mile.
  • Willingness to work in various noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperatures.
  • Open availability for irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing to obtain NFI forklift certification.
  • Attention to detail along with strong customer service and basic math skills.
