Position Overview
We are seeking a
highly skilled Rotor Technician
to join our dynamic team, specializing in the precision assembly, disassembly, inspection, and balancing of high-performance rotating equipment—including rotors, impellers, and shafts used in turbomachinery. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring all components meet rigorous specifications for performance, balance, alignment, and vibration tolerances prior to installation or delivery. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and experience working with rotating machinery in sectors such as turbines, compressors, or industrial pumps. Key Responsibilities
Assemble and disassemble
rotors and other rotating components according to engineering drawings and specifications
Perform precision dynamic and static balancing
using specialized balancing machines (e.g., Schenck, IRD)
Read and interpret
technical documentation including stack-up sheets, blueprints, and tolerance charts
Use precision measurement tools
(micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, laser alignment systems) to verify tolerances and component alignment
Inspect parts
for defects, runout, and vibration issues, supporting quality control and assurance
Collaborate
with machinists, welders, engineers, and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve build or performance issues
Assist with
test setups and vibration analysis
during validation or commissioning processes
Maintain accurate
work records and documentation
to ensure traceability and compliance
Contribute to
continuous improvement efforts
and root cause investigations for rotor-related issues
Follow strict
safety protocols and cleanliness standards
in all shop operations
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or GED
required
Relevant technical certifications or training preferred , including: Automotive Technician (ASE or equivalent)
CNC Machining or Manual Machinist Certification
Electrical Assembly or Industrial Electrical Training
Mechanical Maintenance, Millwright, or Precision Assembly programs
2–5+ years of hands-on experience
with rotating equipment (e.g., turbines, compressors, pumps)
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of
rotating dynamics, balance, vibration, and tolerance requirements
Proficient in
reading and interpreting
engineering drawings, stack-up sheets, and technical documentation
Skilled in using
precision measurement tools
(micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, laser alignment tools, etc.)
Comfortable working in a
physically active environment , lifting up to 50 lbs
Strong
problem-solving and communication skills , with a commitment to teamwork, safety, and quality
