Job Description
The Program Coordinator of Outreach plays a key role in advancing Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s mission of expanding access to higher education and fostering a college-going culture through community engagement and outreach. Reporting to the Director of Outreach, this position develops, coordinates, and implements innovative outreach initiatives designed to engage K-8 students, families, and community partners—particularly within the ASPIRE network.
The coordinator serves as a liaison to schools, community organizations, and university partners, ensuring high-quality programming that highlights educational opportunities and strengthens relationships between the University and the community.
This is a full-time, on-campus position requiring some evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
Responsibilities:
Outreach Program Development & Implementation
Design and execute strategic outreach initiatives to promote college awareness, encourage a college-going culture, and strengthen partnerships with ASPIRE schools and community organizations.
Collaborate with internal university partners to align outreach efforts with institutional goals.
Event Planning & Execution
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of major outreach events such as Classroom of the Month, Passport to College, Mini Future Jaguar Day, and various community engagement activities.
Oversee all event logistics, including scheduling, securing venues, ordering catering, arranging supplies, and providing on-site facilitation.
Challenge to ASPIRE Summer Camps
Coordinate all aspects of the Challenge to ASPIRE summer camps for elementary and middle school students, including partner collaboration, program design, compliance documentation, and week-of facilitation.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
Build and maintain strong relationships with K-8 educators, community leaders, and external organizations to expand A&M-San Antonio’s community presence.
Partner with campus offices—including Admissions, New Student Programs, Family Engagement, Mays Center, Student Affairs, and Athletics—to support outreach initiatives.
Program Assessment & Reporting•
Collect, track, and analyze attendance, survey results, and program impact data to measure success and inform continuous improvement.
Prepare summary reports for leadership as needed.
Other Duties
Serve as a representative of the University at community events and educational fairs.
Assist with additional outreach-related initiatives as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.
Two (2) years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Two (2) years of related experience in outreach, program implementation, and event coordination.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with schools and community organizations.
Exceptional organizational and event-planning skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and basic data tracking tools.
Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools for marketing materials.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel occasionally as required.
