This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Example of Duties
Supervises the daily activities of transit operations on-the-road. Responsibilities include providing dispatch support, radio communications, and on-the-road guidance. Monitors transit schedules, routes, bus stops, and transit facilities through field inspection. Contributes to the goals and objectives of the department, to include formulation and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and controls to ensure safe and efficient operational activities and adherence to established service, budgetary and customer satisfaction standards. Recommends changes as warranted. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and seven (7) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.
OR
Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline, and five (5) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline, and three (3) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.
Must possess and/or obtain:
Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.
A valid State of Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a (P) passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction at time of hire. Applicants with a Restriction of "L-Vehicles Without Air Brake Systems Only", "N-NO Class A and B Passenger Vehicle", and "P-No passengers in CMV bus" are not eligible.
If you currently do not have a CDL, you must:

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160) and (AS 12.62.400). Accordingly, it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested. The processing fee of $47.00 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable) is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.

Military Service Interview Preference
