nThe Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The ME Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon's CORE principles. ME's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.
nThe Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.
nThe ADGE department is looking for a full-time Principal Mechanical Engineer - Team Lead, located in Andover, MA.
nThe Section Leader is responsible for management of the engineering staff supporting design and development of the Patriot Radar shelters major components, infrastructure and sub-assemblies, including obsolescence upgrades, procurement and supplier support.
nThey and their direct reports will support the design, equipment integration, major end item development, vendor support, and sustainment of the existing equipment. The individual will support and lead multi-disciplined engineering teams and provide mechanical solutions and services across all program phases including proposal development. Areas of focus can encompass development of next generation Patriot Radar shelters, design development for existing shelter components an sub-assemblies, transition to production, product support, vendor oversight, and field upgrades.
nThis is an onsite role .
nResponsibilities to Anticipate:
nServed as the liaison to the programs and Integrated Product Teams concerning staffing assignments, forecasting, and resource allocation.
nOversee technical performance of individual contributors and engineering leads.
nResponsible for employee technical development, leadership development, mentoring, motivating, training, and recognition.
nConduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
nProvide guidance on Raytheon expectations for design rigor, level of TDP & MDP documentation required, typical analysis approach, and other similar topics.
nRepresent Radar Shelter section in PDR, CDR, including ensuring design is manufacturable.
nMentor and train the new engineers by providing technical guidance and project support throughout the product life cycle.
nWork with Radar IPT, suppliers and Raytheon subject matter experts as required to resolve any design and production issues.
nCollaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
nLead and participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions.
nApply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment.
nExperience with leading a team for Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation.
nSupport the factory and suppliers with product integration domestically and internationally.
nMeet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
nBasic Qualifications:
nBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical degree.
n8 years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role with minimum four (4) years designing and developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in Military environments.
nExperience leading engineering teams with cost and schedule responsibility.
nMechanical design experience, including concept definition through detailed design and transition to production and production support.
nExperience in mechanical design, development, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
nExperience with managing engineering budgets with Earned Value Management (EVMS), Estimate at Complete (EAC) process, supporting/leading proposals and Risk & Opportunity Management.
nActive and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. .
nPreferred Qualifications:
nExperience in supporting or leading proposals.
nFamiliarity with USG gate review process, having preferably been a previous hardware lead who participated in reviews
nExperience with program startup activities (Gate 5)
nExperience with Risk & Opportunity Management.
nAbility to work collaboratively in an Integrated Product Team environment, interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IPT Leadership, Program Managers, and Customers.
nEngineering project management experience with schedule and budget responsibility.
nExcellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
nWorking knowledge of Military and Commercial Specifications.
nWorking knowledge or experience with air defense systems missiles.
nExperience in design, fabrication, and integration of military mobile shelters, trailers, and equipment packaging.
nAdvanced problem-solving skills.
nExperience with hardware design for Patriot Air Defense Systems
nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Project)
nExperience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
nExperience with current manufacturing systems and processes.
nReliability or failure analysis experience.
nAbility to generate Root Cause Corrective Action summaries and present it to program leadership.
nExperience with generation of technical white papers.
nAble to work well with people and achieve results with a minimum of conflicts and within schedule.
nPrevious experience that includes adaptability and willingness to work varying assignments.
nTeam leadership: experience leading a multi-disciplined, technical team with the ability to develop, empower, motivate and monitor the team.

nThe salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
