EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Twelve Month - Hourly
RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education/Certification:
    • High school diploma, GED, vocational training or any equivalent combination of training experience
    • An active Georgia state electrical license is preferred
  • Experience: Evaluated on an individual basis
  • Physical Requirement:
    • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
    • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Skills Required:
    • Ability to read blueprints, working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, skilled in use and care of power tools related to the electrical trade Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform the tasks of this trade at the direction of maintenance supervisor.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district
  2. Supervises any electrical repair work performed by district personnel
  3. Instructs custodians and maintenance workers on proper methods of procedure and proper use of tools in electrical repair work
  4. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district owned tools, equipment and supplies
  5. Estimates cost of electrical repair projects in terms of labor and materiald
  6. Supervises the installation and operation of all lighting and electrical sound equipment for all special theatrical, athletic or other performance events
  7. Examines district owned facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventative maintenance
  8. Holds a valid Georgia drivers permit and operates in a safe manner, a county owned vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks
  9. Perform such additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the maintenance supervisor
