PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Monitor and answer radio calls, dispatch buses, answer phones, convey needed information to drivers, and monitor bus traffic with GPS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution Must possess (or be able to obtain) Texas CDL with P&S endorsements and Bus Driver Certification within 6 months of employment. Special Knowledge and skills:
Organizational and communication skills Capable of responding to emergency situations Basic working knowledge of communication radios Very familiar with Arlington and the location of all the schools Map reading and giving directions from a map ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Dispatch buses by two-way radio from transportation office to convey information to drivers, such as student not riding, traffic conditions and monitors emergency situations Coordinate the response effort in the event of a breakdown or accident Answer telephones Assist with special trips as needed Monitor bus movements using GPS Serve as substitute Driver/Attendant as needed Assist with updating and maintaining student rider information including regular ed, special ed, and special programs Maintain log of all calls and actions Assist with Paid Transportation Assist with and be secondary to Routers and be proficient in utilizing routing software All other duties as assigned by the Director. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Tools/ Equipment used:
Radio and telecommunication equipment or systems, video surveillance equipment, multiline telephone system, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals. Posture:
Prolonged sitting; occasional reaching, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and twisting. Motion:
Repetitive hand motions; constant keyboarding and use of mouse. Lifting:
Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Environment:
Work indoors in an environmentally controlled space; frequent exposure to noise; unusual fatigue factors resulting from long periods of repetitive, routine activity. Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions.
