PLC / HMI Programmer
Location:
Sterling Heights, MI
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled
PLC/HMI Programmer
to join our dynamic engineering team. This role involves collaborating with fellow engineers and consultants in the
design ,
development , and
implementation
of advanced automation solutions for
industrial and commercial applications . The ideal candidate will be proficient in
PLC programming ,
HMI development , and
hardware design verification , supporting the commissioning team during integration and testing phases.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support
PLC and HMI programming
using
Allen-Bradley PLCs
( RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 ) and
Allen-Bradley HMI systems .
Additional experience with
Siemens PLCs , other
automation programming
, and
SCADA systems
is highly desirable.
Interpret and apply
electrical and pneumatic control system
designs.
Read and implement
blueprints ,
wiring diagrams , and
technical data sheets .
Perform
commissioning ,
debugging , and
troubleshooting
of automation systems.
Work cross-functionally with
mechanical design teams ,
shop floor personnel , and
customers .
Monitor and manage
project timelines ,
standards , and
design modifications .
Ensure
compliance
with
engineering standards ,
customer specifications , and
quality systems .
Assist in the creation and maintenance of
standardized software tools
under supervisor direction.
Use
Microsoft Office Suite
( Outlook ,
Word ,
Excel ,
PowerPoint ) for documentation and communication.
Maintain a strong understanding of
Windows operating systems
and related software platforms.
Uphold
safety protocols , identify
environmental concerns , and contribute to
continuous improvement
initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering ,
Computer Science , or related field, or 5+ years of hands-on experience in
PLC/HMI programming .
Strong ability to read
engineering drawings ,
CAD annotations , and
technical specifications .
Excellent
communication skills , both written and verbal, with the ability to present to customers and internal teams.
Capable of writing
technical documentation ,
maintenance instructions , and
procedures .
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to
stand ,
sit , and
use hands
for extended periods.
Must occasionally lift or move items up to 10 lbs.
Vision requirements include
close vision
and
focus adjustment .
Work environment includes visits to
customer plants , which may be
noisy
and require
PPE
(e.g., ear protection, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hi-vis vests).
Travel Requirements
Regular
local travel
to facilities and customer sites.
No non-local travel
for system integration is required.
