Controls Engineer / Plc Programmer
Selectek is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer / Plc Programmer to join our automation team near North Minneapolis, MN. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning control systems for custom automated machinery. The position includes electrical design, Plc and Hmi development, and hands-on startup support at customer sites. Key Responsibilities: Design and program control systems per project specifications (Erdman and customer-defined). Write code using Allen Bradley platforms such as Studio 5000, Rs500, and FactoryTalk View for Hmi development. Perform safety circuit design and programming using safety Plcs; complete risk assessments and implement safety devices accordingly. Create Ul 508A-certified electrical designs, including component specification and documentation. Contribute to electrical and pneumatic design, debug machines, and support final machine certification for customer run-off. Travel to customer sites (~25%, mostly domestic, with occasional international) for equipment installation and commissioning. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure functional, safe, and efficient automation solutions. Required Qualifications: 35 years' experience in controls engineering and Plc programming. Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical schematics and control panel layouts. Experience with Allen Bradley systems (Studio 5000, Rs500) and FactoryTalk View Hmi software. Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic systems. Willingness to travel 25%, including occasional international travel. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, Automation, or related field. Familiarity with Ul 508A panel standards and safety compliance practices. Experience in machinery design and custom automation environments.
