Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO and Schriever Space Force Base. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems. Essential Functions: This position is for a skilled Software Developer to support the C2BMC product team. The candidate will be assigned tasks appropriate for their level and will work with mentors to develop their skills. The candidate will support the Global User Interface (GUI) Team. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 year of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs. Extensive experience with JAVA or C++ software development, software testing, or software integration. Strong knowledge and experience with Data Structures, Algorithms, Computer Security, and/or Operating Systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with using, developing software, and creating scripts on Linux is strongly desired. Previous internship as a software engineer intern is highly preferred.
