Job introduction: The Corporate Functions Legal Technology group is seeking a motivated Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be on a team focused on creating a modern API suite for data access for core online transaction processing data. As a member of an Agile squad, you will deliver key technology solutions in direct alignment with business strategies. We are modernizing our portfolio but not merely rewriting legacy systems. We are building new cloud native applications from the ground up with a focus on strong engineering practices to meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will be responsible for work in all stages of the development lifecycle. The industry changes quickly, so we are looking for you to respond to change, pick up new technologies and adapt to shifting requirements. We also want you to take pride in your work and have strong design and development expertise. We value quality code delivery and expect you to demonstrate competence at writing, testing, and debugging. There is also flexibility in this role to experiment with new technologies and influence the direction of the Legal Technology Organization. We encourage you to apply and bring your expertise if you're a: Collaborative partner : Working with our Corporate Functions Legal Technology group team of scrum masters, product owners and fellow engineers, you'll tackle technical challenges and ensure quality as we move from legacy technologies to next-generation applications. Comprehensive problem-solver : As you manage the end-to-end development of software products, you'll analyze issues at the system level and handle any complications that arise by implementing effective solutions. Skilled technical engineer : You'll document and lead the implementation of technical features, improvements, and innovations Forward thinker : Simply fixing the problem isn't enough; using your proactive mindset and initiative, you'll continually look for ways to improve performance, quality, and efficiency. Qualifications Desired skills: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience. Hands-on involvement with layered systems architectures, designs, and shared software concepts Familiarity with functional and system integration testing. Agile engineering capabilities and a design-thinking mindset. Collaboration, adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to manage time and prioritize work with a globally distributed development team. Strong oral and written communication skills and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers. A thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions and designs . Proficiency in software engineering languages and tools, including Java and RESTful services, spanning horizontal and vertical packages. An understanding of how modifications affect different parts of a system and an ability to explain your decision-making process to non-engineers.
