We are seeking a highly skilled Server, Storage, and Backup Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows platforms, Storage platform, Hyper-V, Veritas, VEEAM, and VMware. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our operational environment for a large enterprise customer. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining high availability of services, implementing robust backup solutions, and ensuring data integrity across all systems. Key Responsibilities: Design, Implement, and Maintain Server and Storage Solutions: Develop and deploy server architectures that meet the needs of the business. Example: Implementing a new Windows Server cluster to support critical applications, ensuring redundancy and failover capabilities. Manage and Optimize Hyper-V and VMware Virtual Environments: Monitor and manage virtual machines (VMs) to ensure optimal performance. Example: Adjusting resource allocation for VMs based on performance metrics to prevent bottlenecks during peak usage. Implement and Manage Backup Solutions: Utilize Veritas and VEEAM to create and manage backup schedules, ensuring that all critical data is backed up regularly. Example: Setting up incremental backups for databases to minimize downtime and data loss, while performing full backups weekly. Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly diagnose and resolve issues related to server, storage, and backup systems. Sensitivity Label: General Example: Investigating and resolving a storage performance issue that is affecting application response times, using monitoring tools to identify the root cause. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with application developers, network engineers, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of systems. Example: Participating in project meetings to discuss upcoming application deployments and their infrastructure requirements. Monitor System Performance: Use monitoring tools to track system performance and identify areas for improvement. Example: Implementing alerts for system thresholds to proactively address potential issues before they impact users. Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create and update documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures. Example: Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base that includes troubleshooting guides and standard operating procedures for backup and recovery. Provide Technical Support and Guidance: Mentor junior team members and provide technical support to other departments as needed. Example: Conducting training sessions for staff on best practices for data management and backup procedures. Key Skills and Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 10 years in server, storage, and backup engineering, with a proven track record in large enterprise environments. Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy. Sensitivity Label: General Proficient in Hyper-V and VMware virtualization technologies, with experience in managing virtual networks and storage. Strong experience in storage management including storage assignment, performance, troubleshooting and optimization Extensive experience with Veritas and VEEAM backup solutions, including configuration and troubleshooting. Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, Veritas Certified Specialist) are a plus, demonstrating a commitment to professional development. Preferred Qualifications: Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments, understanding how to integrate on-premises systems with cloud services.
