Overview
mPower is looking for a well-rounded Network and Systems Engineer to join our team. Our team consists of experts and professionals who have experience in management, administration, consulting, and technology. This position seeks to implement positive mission-oriented change, to deliver tangible operational results, and to build and continuously improve the organization.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and troubleshoot physical network infrastructure, including Ethernet, fiber optics, and related hardware.
Provide administration and support of both Windows and Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, Rocky, etc.), including scripting, service management, and system updates.
Configure and manage Moxa NPort devices to convert serial data to Ethernet for environmental and scientific monitoring applications.
Support integration and maintenance of REES Environmental Monitoring Systems, including sensor calibration, data collection integrity, and alert configurations.
Document network diagrams, device configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Provide technical support and data extraction for clinical equipment such as patient monitoring systems, imaging devices, laboratory instruments (RNA sequencing instruments and mass spectrometry microscopes) and telemetry systems.
Support and maintain network connectivity, servers, and workstations in clinical and laboratory areas.
Coordinate and perform system installations, configurations, and maintenance.
Ensure that clinical and laboratory devices comply with cybersecurity and HIPAA policies.
Perform preventative maintenance and system health checks to minimize downtime and ensure compliance.
Support change management and participate in incident resolution procedures.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of IT support experience with physical network infrastructure and Linux systems administration. Proven experience configuring and managing Moxa NPort serial-to-Ethernet devices. Hands-on experience with REES Environmental Monitoring Systems or similar platforms. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, iperf, etc.). Experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and diagnostics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in dynamic environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance Desired Qualifications Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience supporting biomedical or laboratory research environments. Familiarity with SNMP monitoring tools and environmental compliance standards. Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Network+, CCNA or equivalent are a plus. Basic Compensation: $90,000 - $125,000 yearly salary The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
