Position Purpose
Leads a team of network and infrastructure engineers for planning, design, implementation, and management of extensive network infrastructure across multiple locations. Leverages a deep understanding of global network architecture, routing protocols, LAN & WAN technologies, cloud services, cybersecurity, automation, wireless networking, and vendor management to ensure optimal performance. Utilizes strong leadership, project management skills, and navigates the intersection of networking and security.
Designs, implements, and maintains a robust and high-performance network infrastructure. Ensures seamless connectivity, optimal network performance, and secure data transmission. Contributes to creating a reliable and scalable network foundation that supports the district's commitment to delivering quality education through technology.
Essential Job Functions
Network Planning and Design
Assesses and plans for network capacity requirements, anticipating future needs and ensuring the scalability of the core network. Designs and implements a scalable and efficient core network infrastructure to meet the connectivity needs of the district. Manages a team configuring and supporting core networking devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other critical components to ensure optimal performance and security. Designs and implements robust routing solutions to ensure optimal data transmission and network efficiency. Develops and implements comprehensive network strategies and solutions that align with organization objectives. Designs and optimizes routing protocols for efficient data flow within the organization's network infrastructure. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud-based services into the network architecture. Maintains comprehensive documentation of core network configurations, topologies, and changes for reference and auditing purposes. Ensures seamless integration of network services with other technological components.
Network Implementation and Maintenance
Leads the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware, software, and communication links across facilities. Ensures the scalability, reliability, and performance of on-premises and cloud-based network infrastructure. Utilizes monitoring tools and practices to continuously monitor the core network, identifies potential issues, and proactively addresses them to maintain uninterrupted services. Optimizes network connectivity and ensures high-quality service delivery. Diagnoses and resolves network issues promptly, collaborating with other IT teams to address connectivity or performance-related challenges. Oversees the design and implementation of wireless networking solutions to provide seamless and secure connectivity for users across the district. Integrates and optimizes network connectivity for cloud services to enhance performance and reduce latency. Plans and executes network device upgrades, patches, and firmware updates to ensure the security and performance of the core network.
Security Management
Designs and maintains security measures to safeguard the core network infrastructure. Implements and manages robust network security measures, including automation-driven security protocols, to safeguard sensitive information and prevent cyber threats across the network. Partners with IT Security to deliver on key information security and IT risk-related initiatives. Contributes to the development and testing of disaster recovery plans for the core network infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime in case of unforeseen events.
Safety
Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff, and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of core networking technologies (network switches, routers, firewalls, etc.), protocols, and best practices relevant to the educational technology environment. Knowledge of VoIP/unified communications, enterprise video conference and collaboration solutions, virtualization platforms, compute/storage technology stack, database, cloud services, end-to-end WAN architecture (MPLS, Internet, DMVPN, SD-WAN), and TCP/IP and networking protocols. Knowledge of enterprise-grade network design and operation. Knowledge of network security principles and the implementation and maintenance of robust security measures within the core network infrastructure Knowledge of contemporary technologies, such as routers, VPNs, firewalls, switches, Unified Communications Manager, wireless controllers, IPv4, IPv6, QoS, BGP, OSPF, DHCP and DNS. Ability to manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other core networking devices to ensure optimal performance and security. Ability to ensure seamless operation of voice, wireless, enterprise network technologies, routing and switching, and high availability networks. Ability to assess network capacity requirements and plan for scalability, anticipating future needs and ensuring the core network can accommodate growth. Ability to maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of core network configurations, changes, and topologies for reference and auditing purposes. Skill in utilizing network monitoring tools and practices to proactively identify and address potential issues, ensuring the continuous availability and performance of the core network. Knowledge of District policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge and understanding of relevant local, state, and federal legal and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Skill in written and oral communication skills including ability to interact with and influence all levels of district service center and campus staff. Ability to design, organize, and track work plans, create appropriate working and decision-making processes, ensure stakeholders are engaged, and support the work itself. Ability to analyze, synthesize, and interpret data, to summarize for technical and non-technical employees and senior management. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to exercise discretion regarding matters of a sensitive or confidential nature. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to work in a team environment, to capitalize on team members' strengths, and to guide them toward achieving a common goal. Ability to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, grant proposals, and other documents. Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Environment: Works in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours. Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Minimum Required Qualifications

Experience: 5-9 years experience in IT Infrastructure required.
