POSITION DESCRIPTION: Pioneering Evolution is seeking afull-time, on-site Platform Engineer Leadto lead the design and implementation of middleware services and DevSecOps pipelines that enable secure, scalable, and auditable operations for afederal software platform supporting financial compliance and modernization objectives.This role blendsmiddleware architecture(authentication, service orchestration, API design) withDevSecOps leadership (CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and Zero Trust security enforcement). The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset, a strong foundation in .NET Core, and the ability to mentor others while driving forward secure and extensible system design. U.S. Citizenship is required.This position requires a Secret Clearance and is based in the Washington D.C. metro area. RESPONSIBILITIES: Architect and implement middleware components including authentication, RBAC, routing, and logging. Lead the design and integration of secure, scalable RESTful APIs across system boundaries. Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and policy enforcement. Collaborate with DevOps, QA, frontend, and backend teams to deliver seamless full-stack integrations. Enforce platform-wide security practices including encryption in transit/rest and audit traceability. Apply Zero Trust principles and compliance frameworks (e.g., FIAR, NDAA) to infrastructure design. Support AI/ML integration via secure service routing and centralized logging frameworks. Mentor engineers and promote technical best practices and operational excellence. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Architecture, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in middleware engineering, DevSecOps, or platform integration roles. Proficiency with C#/.NET Core and API/middleware design patterns. Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation). Expertise with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and secure platform design. Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Must be available to work full-time and on-site in the Washington D.C. metro area. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret Clearance are required. DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience supporting DoD or federal IT systems with audit/compliance mandates. Familiarity with Zero Trust security models, STIG compliance, and secure API gateways. Understanding of AI/ML pipeline integration from a platform services perspective.
