Database Administrator (DQM)

Bowhead seeks a Database Administrator to join our team in Mobile, AL to support the National Dredging Quality Management Program (DQM) within the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, Spatial Data Branch. The Database Administrator will perform a wide range of database administration functions, run test queries, troubleshoot database problems, and periodic maintenance of the databases (including table and query cleanup). Responsibilities

Ability to independently analyze, compile requirements, and develop database solutions for full featured database systems and related tools. Ability to plan, design, develop, and modify complex database structures, and database administration tools using current products and programming languages. Ability to work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects. Maintain existing SQL infrastructure Work with a team to plan and implement new SQL infrastructure Perform routine backups and restores Manage database security policies and procedures Design MS SQL database models/schemas as well as make design enhancements to existing MS SQL databases based on application requirements Configure database tables, views, stored procedures, and permissions. Document all elements of existing and new database designs Produce design documents supporting the automated exchange of data between internal and external data sources Assist in querying SQL data to provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis Qualifications

BA/S in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related field is required. Nine to fifteen years (9-15+) of relevant database administration experience is required. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012+, complex query skills, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Intermediate-to-advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suiteWord, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain security clearance at the Public Trust level.
