About the Role The organization is seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial Senior Product Manager of Study Aids to lead the design, development, and evolution of NCBE’s official study aid ecosystem for the NextGen bar exam. This is a high-impact product leadership role with end-to-end ownership of our B2C and B2B study tools—ranging from interactive practice sets and novel question types to licensing models for law schools and bar preparation providers. This position will be responsible for creating and growing compelling preparation products that serve diverse user needs—from first-time test takers to educators and institutional partners. Working closely with content experts, designers, psychometricians, platform vendors, and executive stakeholders, you will bring new study tools to life and evolve existing offerings based on real user feedback, market data, and NCBE’s mission. This is a builder’s role—ideal for a product leader who thrives in zero-to-one environments, embraces complexity, and wants to help shape the future of the legal profession.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Product Strategy & Innovation Develop and evolve the multi-year product strategy for NCBE’s study aids, rooted in user research, learning science, and market insight. Identify gaps in the preparation journey and define new product concepts that solve user pain points and align with exam changes. Own the product vision for both digital and analog formats, from interactive tools to adaptive question banks to institutional content licenses. Product Design & Development Lead ideation, prototyping, and iterative development of new study aids in collaboration with content, UX, platform, and psychometrics teams. Translate learning objectives and content standards into engaging, accessible study experiences across multiple delivery modes. Define requirements, wireframes, user stories, and MVPs for new tools; prioritize features based on impact and user value. Execution & Lifecycle Management Drive the full product lifecycle—from concept and pilot through launch, iteration, and sunset—ensuring quality and coherence across the study aid portfolio. Maintain and evolve existing products to keep pace with exam evolution, user feedback, and instructional best practices. Business Leadership Own the commercial success of the study aids portfolio, including revenue forecasting, pricing strategy, and ROI analysis. Collaborate with the Head of Product and the Chief Product Officer to define business models for individual users and institutional partners. User Research & Engagement Serve as the voice of candidates, educators, and institutional customers—leveraging interviews, analytics, and feedback loops to inform product decisions. Partner with marketing, legal, and licensing teams to shape go-to-market strategies and outreach campaigns. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams and platform vendors. Build strong relationships with external collaborators such as bar prep providers, law schools, and platform partners to ensure alignment and shared success. Qualifications 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in educational technology, test prep, assessments, or related fields Demonstrated success designing and launching new learning products or tools from scratch Proven ability to balance user needs, content integrity, and business goals in a regulated or mission-driven environment Strong grasp of user-centered design, learning experience design, and accessibility best practices Experience with digital product development, agile workflows, and cross-functional leadership P&L ownership and commercial strategy experience for both B2C and B2B product lines Familiarity with law schools, bar preparation ecosystems, or high-stakes exams is a significant plus Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and levels The Senior Product Manager may work remotely.
