The Opportunity

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing Northern Light's IT infrastructure, end-user devices, enterprise applications, and security compliance. This role supports all employees and associates-both in-office and remote-ensuring systems operate securely, efficiently, and reliably. The Administrator manages Azure AD integrations, security policies, device configurations, mobile accounts, collaboration tools, and backup solutions, while proactively identifying and resolving technical issues.

Essential Functions

System & Device Administration:

Install and Configure desktop platforms - Windows and MacOS - with all required security software and properly hardened as required by Northern Light Security Policies. Manage employee devices (laptops, tablets, hotspots) including setup, configuration, and asset tracking. Coordinate and enhance all Azure SSO integrations as required. Administer the Northern Light Bridge platform and other internal systems as needed. Provide access management and troubleshooting for enterprise tools (Exchange, Avanan, 1Password, Toggl, and others). Employee Support & Onboarding:

Provide responsive IT support for employees and associates, including Microsoft troubleshooting, email flow, device issues, and conferencing tools (Teams, Zoom). Manage onboarding/offboarding IT tasks including account setup, permissions, and access to required tools. Deliver employee training on IT tools, security protocols, and device best practices. Security & Compliance:

Maintain all our security policies and practices tailored to employee access, identify gaps in our security practices, and propose remedies. Carry out other duties as assigned. Monitor for risky users and enforce device compliance. Carry out assigned duties in a professional and independent manner and proactively identify technical problems and propose solutions. Operational & Physical IT Management:

Identify constraints/bottlenecks in IT Operations lifecycles and automating them in a culture of collaboration and transparency. Support office technology including wi-fi, network equipment, printers, conference room AV systems, and cameras. Maintain inventory management systems (Asset Panda) and coordinate device purchasing. Coordinate periodic recycling of old devices with our vendor and secure destruction of hard drives. You must work effectively with all Northern Light employees and associates, including those in remote offices to resolve any problems with our operational environment. What you bring:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. At least 3 years' experience in Windows and MacOS systems administration. CompTIA Security+ certification a plus. Expert in Windows Active Directory management and maintenance. Deep technical understanding of all end-user hardware devices - laptops, Phones, tablets, etc. Ability to work with team members on assigned tasks. Work authorization requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States (unfortunately we cannot sponsor visas).

Job Type: Full-time.

Work Location: Hybrid with 2-3 days per week in the Boston, MA office as agreed upon with your manager. Occasional weekend/nights as required to fulfill job requirements and monitor employee activities.
