The Climate Adaptation Utility Risk Senior Policy Analyst position will play a pivotal role in preparing California for a more resilient future. Under the general direction of the Project and Program Supervisor, the analyst will serve California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) decision-makers in developing high-level policy and overseeing programs developed pursuant to those policies. The analyst will conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts, and develop work products such as briefing documents, presentations, and graphics used to advise decision-makers including Commissioners, Judges, and Energy Division management. The analyst will support policy and technical planning of Climate Adaptation issues to enhance resilience and reliability of the state's energy infrastructure, coordinating with long-term planning proceedings and other agencies like the California Fifth Climate Assessment. Responsibilities include technical review of utilities' Climate Adaptation Vulnerability Assessments, supporting general rate cases, and possibly assisting with R&D & Demonstration programs and policies like Combined Heat and Power, ensuring safe, reliable, and affordable energy services while addressing climate change. Diversity, equity, and inclusion will be integral to all aspects of the work. Additional duties include supporting the Climate and Equity Initiatives section, assisting with cross-proceeding activities, workshops, website content, contract management, and responding to information requests. This position is authorized by Governor's Budget (Leg) - Public Utilities Rate of Return (AB 2666).
