SUMMARY:
The RF & Microwave Engineer is a key member of a multidisciplinary design team that performs complete system level product development including RF, embedded command and control, and power systems. This role will support complex RF subsystems from proposal writing, RF & electrical design, customer & internal design reviews, initial prototype testing, transition to production and manufacturing support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design and support development of RF components and integrated assemblies (IMAs) covering frequency ranges from DC to 40 GHz and from RF power levels from small signal to average power of 100 W. Experience with RF components and systems comprised of amplifiers, mixers, filters, couplers, equalizers, bias tees, attenuators, phase shifters, etc. Develop and document compliance and test matrices based on customer specifications. Model, design, simulate, assemble and test prototypes, and perform data analysis to ensure compliance with product specifications. Lead hands on, technical engineering troubleshooting efforts to resolve performance issues. Create or assist in documenting engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, and accompanying drawing packages for new / existing product, procedures, or tooling / fixtures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 1 to 10 years of experience OR MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (Secret Level) strongly desired. Knowledge of RF and Microwave principles including s-parameters, Smith charts, spurious products, impedance matching, noise figure, power compression and intermodulation products. Ability to perform calculations, measurements, analysis, and reporting as needed to create custom RF solutions. Experience in use of various test instruments, with emphasis on RF testing including use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, power supplies, DMMs, etc. Experience using RF tools such as ADS or Microwave Office or EM tools like HFSS or CST. Ability to work in cross functional team, provide succinct status updates on engineering efforts and communicate with customers. Comfortable working under microscope and strong bench skills are desired. Proficiency in office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as required. Familiarity with CAD systems such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
PREFERRED FUNCTIONS:
Assist sales, manufacturing engineering, production, and quality departments in resolving product issues, complaints, waiver requests, and in answering customer inquiries. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Filter design, simulation and tuning in a variety of topologies Experience with modern manufacturing methods and electrical/ electronic assembly. Leadership and project management to the integration of the design, development, and manufacturing of systems for use in commercial and military and aerospace products. Ability to lead and support proposal efforts and own pricing as well as technical approach. Ability to automate test equipment is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is an on-site position within a manufacturing facility.
