Director of Athletics Position Summary:
The Director of Sports Information position is dedicated to managing the communication and media needs of the Athletic Department. This role involves overseeing the athletics website, coordinating game statistics, creating media guides, distributing press releases, and serving as the primary liaison between the Athletic Department and external media outlets. The position supports coaches and the Athletic Director in promoting the University's mission, vision, core values, fostering a Christ-centered environment, and enhancing the visibility and reputation of the Royals Athletic programs within the community and beyond. Duties/Responsibilities: Coordinates athletics web page, including weekly updates and picture shoots. Collect player and coach bio information Update team results on HIU’s athletic website after each game and competition Post special articles on HIU’s athletic website when appropriate Write and distribute press releases as needed Create a game program for every home game (to include rosters of both teams and a small article about both teams) Collect and distribute rosters, stats, and box scores to coaches and other S.I.D.’s before and following contests Attend conference S.I.D. meetings Coordinate guest pass lists for men's and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball Act as a liaison between the Athletic Department and all outside agencies, including local and national media and opponents’ Sports Information Offices Attend all home games and input/compute statistics using GSAC statistical software Give stat printouts to the home and visiting teams during breaks in action (i.e., between games in volleyball, doubleheaders in softball, and at half-times of soccer and basketball games) -

Develop Fall Sports Media Guide (MG)-September Develop Winter Sports Media Guide-November Develop Spring Sports Media Guide-January Assist the coaches in organizing team rosters Confirm team schedules with AD and coaches for inclusion in MG Send out rosters and schedules to all of the teams to be played in each sport Assist coaches in setting up their keeping of stats, and have the secretary confirm stat crews for each sport Make sure coaches send in their team stats to NCCAA and NAIA Keep track of money coming into the department for MG ads Write, print, and distribute Royal Athletic Association Newsletter-Fall-Winter-Spring Complete all questionnaires submitted to the athletic department for information on sports Have letters sent to hometown newspapers announcing student-athletes' attendance at HIU and their participation in the athletic program Prepare special releases to area news media announcing GSAC membership, championships, top recruits, hiring, special events, gym developments, and money-raising functions Other duties related to sports information as assigned by the Athletic Director or the Associate Athletic Director Employment Standards: Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree required. Previous 2-3 years of experience in the Sports Information or Media relations department at the College or Pro level. Knowledge:
The use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a Photo editor. Must have knowledge of Stat Crew and Cyber sports. Audiovisual knowledge. Knowledge of HTML. Skills:
The ability to type at least 30 WPM with excellent proofreading. Good interpersonal and communication skills, including telephone skills. Able to function moderately independently within established job responsibilities and parameters. Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Able to operate well in a “busy” environment where multiple conversations/activities may be occurring at one time. Mental Demands:
Remain positive amidst stressful situations. Ability to understand directions, listen well, and pay attention to details. Ability to work well with people. Ability to express ideas clearly. Ability to manage tasks. Physical Demands:
