J OB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS :
The Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Family Emergency Shelter to meet the goals of the organization within its policies and procedures.
The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe and orderly operations of the shelter while fostering a caring and supportive environment for residents. This role focuses on enhancing access to resources, supporting families in crisis, and promoting long-term housing stability. The Program Manager also works to strengthen family relationships and support systems, ensures high-quality residential services through adherence to internal and external quality assurance standards, and upholds a positive public image grounded in Social Work principles.
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE :
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years of experience related to work with low-income families; MSW preferred. Experience in a residential setting required. Training and/or experience should include an understanding of entitlement and community resource systems. The position requires the ability to work effectively and professionally with people with a wide range of values and coming from varying cultures and background experiences and also to have an understanding of housing and homelessness. The following skills and abilities are required: supervision, budgeting, case work and management, program development, crisis intervention and problem-solving, training development and implementation, and applied knowledge of human development and social systems perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Oversees Unity house staff and overall operations. 2. Intervene as necessary regarding crises of individuals and families in the shelter. 3. Supervise the case planning, case reviews and file recordings of Unity House Families. 4. Orient, train and supervise open positions 5. Oversee the development of shelter policies and procedures. 6. Supervise program planning and implementation including increasing programming on site. 7. Ensure compilation of statistical information from resident files for internal and external reporting purposes. 8. Lead an ongoing evaluation and development of shelter operations, including development of a program strategic plan.
9. Delegate assignments to staff related to shelter goals.
10. Respond to shelter emergencies as needed, participate in on-call rotation.
11. Establish contacts with community agencies to develop client resources.
12. Be responsible for the daily management of the shelter office including monitoring and managing bills.
13. Monitor shelter cleanliness and organization.
14. Develop in-house programming for residents.
15. Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) duties as assigned by supervision & PQI Committee
16. Make appropriate referrals to individuals and families who need basic living materials or housing, but are not in need of residential services.
17. Assist in public relations opportunities as needed.
18. Comply with internal and external Quality Assurance Standards.
19. Develop and monitor annual program
