As a Mechanical Designer at EPD Electronics, you will be responsible for designing mechanical enclosures that will house PCB assemblies and cabling to create working prototypes for medical, industrial, building automation and other applications. Your expertise in CAD drafting will transform product design into prototypes to take into production. You will support the production process with documentation and additive manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities: Collaborate with engineering to translate conceptual designs and specifications into detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models. Create models using Solidworks or Fusion 360 computer-aided design (CAD) software, starting with basic specifications and PCB files made in Altium Create accurate and detailed technical drawings, including assembly drawings, part drawings, and fabrication drawings, that support the production process. Ensure that all drawings and models are properly documented, labeled, and stored for future reference Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in CAD design and drafting and apply this knowledge to enhance design processes and efficiency. Print 3D models to evaluate new designs and identify changes to make. Print production pieces on 3D printers and laser cutters.
Required Skills & Experience Associate degree or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field. 3+ year of relevant experience. Proficiency in CAD software. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines. Background check and references are required
Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Solidworks or Fusion 360 software. Mechanical design experience of enclosures and cabling Experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing techniques Familiarity with CNC machine operation. Familiarity with Altium software for PCB layout
