ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Receive instructions, prints, and/or work orders for various welding and cutting jobs and carry out the assigned instructions. Maintain, repair, and fabricate equipment and work area by cutting, burning, and welding various metals. Clean and prepare surfaces to be maintained, repaired, or fabricated. Use burning/cutting equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut metals to required size and shape. Develop, analyze and review a variety of operational reports to examine equipment usage, preventative maintenance, efficiency, quality, and other areas and implements operational changes as required. Assist in developing operating policies and procedures to ensure the efficient use of resources and to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure schedules, quality initiatives, safety targets, efficiency metrics, and other operational measurements are met for the maintenance functions. Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Assist with reviewing and coordinating general operations with all other functional areas. May perform various corrective and preventive maintenance and repair work that will involve skills within several of the following areas: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, welding, and other skilled trades depending on operational needs. Report ALL incidents through company's reporting protocol. Support company safety initiatives. Demonstration of knowledge of all required competencies. Perform other duties as required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a similar industrial environment preferred. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school or equivalent. Certified or capable of being certified for American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) 3G, 4G, and 6GR test positions as stated in AWS D14.1 / D14.1M:2005. SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to read/write/communicate in English. Able to use basic math skills. Must be able to follow directions. Performing applicable welding activities. Ability to work at various heights. Ability to utilize fall arrest systems and harnesses. Applying basic operational principles and practices. Developing and analyzing applicable maintenance reports. Working with other functions throughout the organization. Ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction. Demonstrate radio professionalism in communications. Ability to work extended hours, including holidays, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed. Be physically fit to perform all essential physical demands of this job safely. Advocate of team concept. Commitment to customer service. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Must comply with all operational directives and company policies. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Incumbent will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot-cool/cold as well as occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. Noise levels may require hearing protection. May be subjected to conditions which require the use of dusts mask or respirators. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools. Rotational shift work required. Twelve or more hours per day may be spent in work environment as work dictates. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical nature of the work will vary from day to day based on operational needs; however the job will require the incumbent to be able to perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Incumbent will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: Hard Hat, eyewear, safety vests, gloves, masks/ respirators (when necessary) and steel-toe boots. The incumbent is required to utilize fall arrest systems and harnesses. The job duties will be performed at varies height levels. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/ or in excess of 50 lbs. frequently, and/ or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSURES: TWIC (must be able to attain). Must pass pre-employment drug tests as well as random drug screening. Valid Driver's License with acceptable driver's record. Certified or capable of being certified for American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) 3G, 4G, and 6GR test positions as stated in AWS D14.1 / D14.1M:2005. Qualifications
