The RN first assistant practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase of the peri-operative experience and overall direction of the Assistant Manager, OR Manager, Director of Surgical Services and Vice President of Patient Care Services. Performs a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. Job Details And Requirements Type: PRN Education The First Assistant will possess one of the following credentials: - Certified Surgical Technician and certification as a Surgical First Assistant. - RNFA - Physician Assistant and certification as a Surgical Assistant. -Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and certification as a Surgical Assistant. or - Is a Certified Surgical Technician, a Registered Nurse, a Physician Assistant, or a Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and meets the requirements for acceptance in a surgical assistant certification program. Certification must be completed within 3 years of employment or granting of privileges. or - Has at least one year experience as a surgical assistant at Saint Francis Medical Center prior to June 1, 2015, has performed in at least 150 cases, and has demonstrated competencies in all required job functions of the Surgical First Assistant. Certification & Licensures Licensed to practice in the State of Missouri. Experience -Handling tissue. - Providing exposure. - Using instruments. - Suturing. Providing hemostasis.
