Corporate Communications Specialist

Summary: The Corporate Communications Specialist creates a positive image for the Memorial Healthcare System brand through media relations, corporate communications and executive communications support. The Specialist identifies stories for media outreach, organizes press conferences, interviews, etc. and prepares information for external communication, including, but not limited to, articles, publications, testimonials, blogs, social media posts, and other supportive materials. Writes copy for newsletters, collateral, radio spots, press releases, video scripts, leadership talking points, presentations, and more. Supports Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) to develop, initiate and implement system, hospital, and service line campaigns. Facilitates reactive and proactive media relations under direction of Manager/Director. The Specialist also serves as a part of the crisis response team. Responsibilities: Creates and edits accurate, brand-consistent communication materialssuch as articles, blogs, and press releasesfor regional, service line, and system audiences. Repurposes content for newsletters, social media, and other channels. Reviews and refines submissions from physicians and leaders, tracking edits in project management tools. Develops and executes communication plans and content for internal and external audiences across multiple channels. Handles media inquiries, story development, executive communications, and manages patient testimonials and content production. Supports real-time event coverage and collaborates with leadership on PR strategies. Engages in professional networking to enhance public relations skills and consistently meets deadlines with strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Works with the Social Media Manager and Digital Team to develop and post content across social media, website, and newsletters. Supports social media coverage and repurposes content for blogs and digital communications. Supports crisis planning and response, managing communication during incidents such as hurricanes and mass casualties. Develops and updates crisis plans and related materials to ensure effective team execution. Coordinates internal and external publications, pitching content for regional outlets. Monitors media coverage, crafts messaging, responds to inquiries, and provides leadership with feedback to guide crisis strategy. Participates in training and post-crisis evaluations to improve future responses. Manages media relations by crafting stories, press releases, and pitches to secure coverage. Responds promptly to media inquiries and provides updates as needed. Builds and maintains relationships with local media and manages media lists and tracking software. Generates reports analyzing coverage and opportunities. Supports trauma coverage rotations and coordinates editorial calendars to ensure timely submissions of promotional articles, often aligned with MARCOM campaigns. Required Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Corporate Communication and/or Media/Social Media Market.
