Serves as an ambassador of Mt. Bachelor as part of the management team. Assists the LMSM in overseeing the preventative and daily operative maintenance of all lifts, tow ropes, and carpets. Helps LMSM identify and oversee all short-term and long-term projects. Assists in leading the team of lift mechanics and works closely with the management of the Mountain Operations team to ensure a seamless operation. Covers all LMSM duties in their absence. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities Daily administration and maintenance on all Mt Bachelor ski lifts. Assure that all maintenance required by manufacturers, regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, or as deemed necessary by personal experience is completed and documented promptly. Daily administration, supervision, and motivation of Lift Maintenance staff. Communicate to staff all pertinent company policies, philosophies, and all appropriate information from upper management. Helps recruit, hire, train, and motivate a staff of sufficient size and expertise to satisfy the needs of Lift Maintenance, Lift Electronics, and Lift Construction. Assist in Lift Operations training. Ensure Lift Maintenance staff complies with company uniform and appearance standards, as well as all other company policies. In cooperation with the LMSM, formulate yearly Lift Maintenance budget proposals for staff and equipment as necessary. Control actual expenditures within the approved budget. Assist in capital budgets as required. Help develop effective and innovative departmental operations, particularly in the areas of scheduling, record keeping, documentation, and training. Maintain proficiency in Lift and Electrical maintenance skills and awareness of the latest developments in methodology or technology relating to aerial tramways. Assist in communication with all outside regulatory agencies that pertain to Lift Maintenance and operations. Conduct all lift inspections as necessary. Serves as part of a team that supervises all lift construction and major modifications. Promote proper maintenance, care, and safe use of all lift machinery, buildings, tools, and vehicles. Responsible for the security of these items. Formulate, edit, and initiate maintenance procedures to ensure all necessary information is available to maintenance personnel for the proper completion of maintenance. The Lift Maintenance Manager is accountable to the Lift Maintenance Senior Manager for all lift machinery matters on and off the hill, including but not limited to guest and staff relations. Supervisory Responsibilities Number of employees supervised: 18-25 Positions Supervised: Lift Maintenance Supervisors, Lift Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, Lift Mechanics (Levels 1-4), Lift Maintenance Assistants, Lift Maintenance Administrative Assistant, & Parts Specialist. Scheduling and assigning work: Ongoing to ensure proper coverage during operating seasons and overseeing annual maintenance on lifts during off-season. Training: Extensive Salary Actions: Yes, within upper management parameters Disciplinary Actions: Yes Performance Reviews: Yes Hiring/Termination: Yes Interpersonal Contacts Works side by side with the Mountain Operations Management Team; Patrol, Grooming, Snowmaking and Removal, Lift Services, Vehicle Maintenance, to ensure a seamless transition between all operational areas and the experience provided to guests and staff. Establishes and maintains a strong network with industry contemporaries, including but not limited to: Lift Manufacturers, NSAA, and PNSAA contacts and resources. Specific Job Skills Expert in all technical areas of Lift Maintenance, mechanical and electrical. License/Certifications: Oregon Driver's License; First Aid and CPR Certification preferred; 3 ILM Certificates from PNSAA or another Lift Maintenance Seminar (RMLA, LMS, etc.). Technical: Advanced mechanical theories; industrial safety proficiency; advanced troubleshooting principles; detachable lift theory and design; general electrical theory, design, and application; clear understanding of the current ANSI B77 code. Physical Capabilities: Climb ladders; climb on, over, and around structural elements; work with hand tools and power tools; perform necessary work functions while wearing a full body harness or other personal protective equipment; walk on uneven or irregular surfaces in adverse weather conditions; perform job tasks in sub-zero and high wind (50 + mph) conditions, advanced snowmobile operations. Additional: Communicate clearly and effectively using radio communications, hazard recognition, environmental training, and basic first aid. Education/Related Experience Minimum Education: High School Graduate, College Graduate with an engineering degree preferred. Minimum time in related position: 6 years previous experience in Lift Maintenance, 2 years previous supervisor skills, 2 years lift construction experience, or 4 years lift maintenance with supervisory skills and an associate degree in a related field.
