Job Summary:
The Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a warehouse automation project involving Automated Retrieval System (ARS) and Automated Retrieval and Guided Storage (ARGS) technologies. This role includes full lifecycle project management-from concept and design through construction, commissioning, validation (if applicable), and turnover. The Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage vendor and contractor relationships, and ensure that all project milestones, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership:
Manage all phases of the ARS/ARGS implementation project from initiation through close-out. Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria. Create and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Stakeholder & Team Management:
Coordinate with stakeholders across engineering, supply chain, IT, QA (if regulated), operations, and external vendors. Lead cross-functional project meetings and ensure clear communication across all levels.
Technical Oversight:
Support system layout reviews, equipment specifications, and integration with warehouse management systems (WMS/ERP). Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), installation, and commissioning. Ensure the system complies with safety, GxP (if applicable), and operational requirements.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors and contractors for ARS/ARGS equipment supply, controls, integration, and installation. Ensure vendor deliverables align with contractual obligations.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure proper documentation is maintained, including change controls, commissioning records, and validation protocols (if applicable). Ensure compliance with local regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
Budget & Risk Management:
Track project financials, manage change orders, and control costs. Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred). PMP or similar project management certification highly desirable. 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in warehouse automation, industrial systems, logistics, or manufacturing. Proven experience with ARS/ARGS, AS/RS, robotics, or material handling systems. Strong understanding of systems integration with ERP/WMS platforms. Experience in GxP or FDA-regulated environments (for pharma/life sciences projects) is a plus. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera).
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), shuttle systems, vertical lift modules, AGVs. Familiarity with validation and commissioning protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) Prior experience delivering warehouse automation projects in operational facilities.
