The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in our operations by safely moving and loading vehicles using a front-end loader or forklift. This position requires accurate documentation of vehicle movement within the facility and conducting thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the assigned machinery.
The ideal candidate will focus on maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to company guidelines for safe equipment operation, and ensuring customer satisfaction through an understanding of Copart policies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Safely operating company equipment to load and unload vehicles.
- Documenting vehicle movement accurately and legibly.
- Assisting with yard set-up for auctions within established timelines.
- Providing exceptional customer service and support as needed.
- Maintaining a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and practices.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- At least two years of relevant work experience, particularly in an outdoor setting.
- One year of experience operating a loader or forklift is preferred; certification is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills and a positive demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
- Bilingual skills are an advantage.
