Connsci is seeking a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert with experience supporting Cyber Readiness Reviews (CRR-M), Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI/CCORI), and cybersecurity governance initiatives.
In this role you can expect to:
Serve as a key advisor to units preparing for cyber inspections, assessments, and audits.
Mentor unit-level cybersecurity teams on interpreting and implementing USCYBERCOM and AFNIC inspection checklists.
Coordinate the review, update, and validation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical implementation standards.
Identify
and close gaps in readiness posture, helping units prepare for FISMA scorecard reporting, CORA, and CCORI assessments. Develop tailored guidance for inspection preparation based on real-world audit findings and assessment trends. Support remediation efforts for deficiencies uncovered during internal or external inspections. Translate NIST SP 800-53 control requirements into actionable, mission-appropriate security practices across organizations. Basic Qualifications: Active TS/SCI security clearance per federal stipulation At least 7 years of experience in cybersecurity governance, inspection readiness, or RMF support in Department of Defense environments DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (CISSP, CASP+, CISA, or equivalent) At least 2 years of experience supporting CCORI, CRR-M, or equivalent cyber assessments At least 2 years of experience with NIST SP 800-53 controls and how they align to operational readiness Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field Experience with inspection tools and checklists from USCYBERCOM, AFNIC, and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Prior support to Theater Campaign Orders or other cyber compliance directives Strong communication
and mentoring skills to support base-level cyber personnel Travel Requirement:
This position will require up to 40% travel across the Indo-Pacific region (Japan, Korea, Alaska, Guam, Diego Garcia) About
