Job Description Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Location : Waukegan, IL

Pay Rate :$38-40/hr DOE

Benefits : Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, install, repair, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems and industrial equipment including metal detectors, conveyor belts, baggers, pumps, mixers, sealers, and scales. Assist employees with diagnosing equipment malfunctions and recommend measures to improve operations. Interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints for equipment installation, operation, and repairs. Ensure timely completion of work and proper use of materials, equipment, and supplies. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities per company and regulatory standards. Provide training on quality standards and safe equipment operation. Perform root cause analysis and implement final fixes on machinery and facilities systems. Adhere to all SOPs, procedures, safety, and environmental guidelines. Perform electrical work, welding, and other job-related tasks as assigned. Technical Responsibilities Electrical: Troubleshoot, maintain, and install electrical controls for industrial machinery and facilities equipment, including:

PLC logic

(reading/analyzing,

not programming), discrete I/O, analog signals VFDs, soft starters, motor control circuits, HMI’s, ethernet communications, switches Solenoids, push buttons, sensors, and 3-phase/single-phase electrical systems Mechanical: Troubleshoot, maintain, and install mechanical systems including:

Gear reducers, conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, pumps, mixers Hydraulic and pneumatic systems: motors, pumps, valves, piping systems, hoses

Qualifications & Requirements

5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, specifically with metal detectors, baggers, sealers, and scales. Strong knowledge of plant maintenance operations, electrical PLCs, AC/DC motors, gear drives, and speed ratios. Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and technical documents. Proficient with tools and maintenance procedures in an industrial environment. Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems. Experience with metalworking and fabrication. Background in food production, manufacturing, or warehouse environments required. Must be flexible with work hours and available for overtime as needed. Ability to frequently lift/push up to 55 lbs. Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Education & Certifications

High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred. PLC programming certification a plus. Electrical or mechanical certification preferred.
