Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Ashton Woods Homes is in search of a finance leader to work with the Vice President of Finance on supporting the division operations and providing financial information and analysis for the annual plan, quarterly forecasts, and ad-hoc reporting. The role is at the Manager or Director level, with the final title and responsibilities tailored based on the candidate’s experience and fit. This position will have responsibility for both the Ashton Woods and Starlight divisions and is intended to be a developmental role for higher-level positions, allowing the company to grow finance leaders internally.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of the 3-year strategic business plan, quarterly forecasts, and other financial projections. Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support new land acquisitions and drive investment decisions. Develop and maintain KPI dashboards to monitor performance, margin trends, and operational drivers. Manage pricing strategy for all communities to optimize profitability and competitive positioning. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to guide business decisions and strategic initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally with Land, Construction, Sales, and other Division leaders to drive continuous improvement and optimize operational efficiency. Review monthly financial statements, analyzing variances between budget and actual results. Partner with Centralized Accounting and Division leaders for month-end close and reporting processes. Manage indirect construction budgets and perform quarterly analysis. Assist with land development budgets and perform quarterly land transfer analysis. Manage outgoing wire transfer process for lot takedowns and option payments to land bankers. Partner with real estate tax consultants for reconciliation and payment of property taxes. Safeguard the company’s assets in accordance with Corporate and Division policy and generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related fields. At least five (5) years of experience in finance/accounting; direct experience in homebuilding is highly preferred. CPA, CMA, or MBA designation preferred. Experience performing financial planning, budgeting and analysis. Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to learn new programs as needed. Ability to partner cross-functionally and influence operational leadership across the division. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in stressful situations. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide actionable financial insights that drive operation and strategic decisions. High degree of professionalism; ability to communicate with confidence. Self-directed; takes initiative, proactively addresses problems; can work with minimal oversight. Highly organized and flexible, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines, often with frequent interruptions and changing circumstances in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.

Skills And Knowledge

Strong/advanced Microsoft Excel skills necessary. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to review, analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot complex information. Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without compromising quality of work or missing deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication. Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of management. An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting.

Typical Physical And Mental Demands

Ability to drive an automobile for required travel. Requires occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. These physical requirements are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
