Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the daily financial operations of the school. This includes overseeing accounts payable, payroll, expenditure monitoring, invoicing, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The role also involves advising on general accounting functions and assisting in the oversight of financial practices, including internal controls, billing, collections, and payroll. Key Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial Operations: Manage accounts receivable, record daily deposits, and generate invoices for corporate sponsorships, program revenue, and other income. Record contributions, pledges, grants, and endowment transactions. Prepare and post monthly journal entries; reconcile all balance sheet accounts for both the High School and Work Study Program. Oversee accounts payable, resolve invoice discrepancies, and ensure timely payments. Complete bank reconciliations for all school accounts. File quarterly sales and use tax returns, 1099s, and 571-L forms. Monitor departmental budget performance and track restricted fund expenditures. Maintain the cash log in collaboration with the Advancement Team. Perform monthly journal entry reclassifications as needed. Payroll & Expense Management: Process semi-monthly payroll using Paylocity in coordination with the Controller and HR Manager. Communicate payroll deadlines and compliance requirements to internal stakeholders. Administer credit card expense platforms (Ramp, Amex, Heritage), ensuring proper documentation, coding, and approvals. Provide training and support to cardholders to ensure policy compliance. Budgeting & Audit Support: Assist in preparing the annual operating budget. Support the annual financial audit by preparing required schedules and documentation. Admissions & Financial Aid Support: Participate in the admissions and enrollment process by reviewing family financials for eligibility. Customer Service & General Support: Serve as a financial resource for students and families, explaining financial aid and tuition obligations. Collaborate with departments such as admissions, development, and student life to provide financial insights. Perform additional duties as assigned. Mentor and support team members as needed. Help maintain the CRSJ Finance Calendar. Commitment to Mission: Supervise students during designated times. Attend all required assemblies and staff meetings. Complete annual staff reading assignments. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Required: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in GAAP, QuickBooks Online, and payroll processing software. Preferred: Experience in education or non-profit accounting. Seniority level
