Base pay range
$170,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr POSITION PURPOSE: The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the properties engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of all building systems. This role involves managing a team of engineers and maintenance staff, implementing preventative maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing energy efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in hospitality facility management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to extend the life of equipment and reduce downtime. Ensure the hotel is compliant with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes. Monitor and optimize energy consumption to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Implement sustainable practices in line with corporate or industry standards. Manage, train, and mentor the engineering and maintenance team to ensure high performance. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Oversee vendor negotiations and contracts for maintenance services and equipment purchases. Track expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, fire codes, and other regulatory requirements. Coordinate with local authorities for safety drills and inspections. Work with architects, contractors, and designers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Evaluate the need for upgrades to enhance guest experience and operational efficiency. KNOWLEDGE, EXPIERENCE AND SKILLS Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred). 10+ years of engineering or maintenance management experience in the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems in a hotel environment. Experience with budget management, vendor relations, and capital project planning. Familiarity with OSHA, fire safety codes, ADA compliance, and other regulatory standards. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. High proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call for emergencies. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: Hotel or resort setting with both office and hands-on technical responsibilities. May require working in outdoor environments and in tight spaces for maintenance tasks. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and operating power tools as needed. Seniority level
