The AWS Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is excited to invite applications for a Senior Software Engineer position. As a pivotal member of our software team, you will lead initiatives designed to enhance the hardware operations flywheel. Collaborating closely with a diverse team of Software Development Engineers, Research Scientists, and a Technical Program Manager, your contributions will drive the development of transformative quantum computing technologies. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design of system architecture, promoting best practices to influence the team’s long-term technical decisions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. Mentor and develop fellow engineers, facilitating personal and professional growth within the team. Work hand-in-hand with scientists and engineers to identify challenges, propose solutions, and effectively translate user stories into software design documents that reflect smart trade-offs between complexity and delivery. Design and implement software in a logical, maintainable manner, taking ownership of the software stack's stability and quality. Pinpoint bottlenecks and integration issues within the fabrication team's workflows and spearhead improvements to drive efficiency. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Excellent communication skills and a passion for learning about quantum computing are essential for success in this role. Example Projects Include: Building and maintaining data streaming pipelines from fabrication tools. Deploying forecasting ML models for predictive maintenance of fabrication equipment. Developing features that enhance fabrication planning, timeline estimations, and retrospective analysis of product flows. Designing database schemas to model processes and artifacts across the device lifecycle. As part of the Device Lifecycle software development team at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing, you will work with a group of talented engineers dedicated to scaling up quantum computing technologies. Basic Qualifications: 7+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship). 7+ years of programming experience in at least one software programming language. 4+ years of experience leading design or architecture efforts for new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling. Experience in mentoring or leading an engineering team. Preferred Qualifications: Experience deploying ML models into production. MSc or PhD in a STEM discipline. Experience collaborating with scientists in research or fabrication contexts. Experience building software utilizing AWS services. Compensation for this position ranges from $151,300/year to $261,500/year depending on market location, experience, and skills.
