As part of our mission to build an automated planning system that transforms inbound operations, your contributions will be pivotal in redefining how Amazon plans, predicts, and powers the global movement of goods. Here are the key responsibilities you will undertake:
Collaborate with business leaders and operations teams to identify opportunities and translate pain points into actionable data science problems.
Design and implement interpretable probabilistic models to forecast customer demand, supply availability, and network flows amid uncertainties.
Deliver insights and recommendations via interactive dashboards, visualizations, and presentations that support significant business decisions.
Develop and maintain explainable machine learning and statistical models, ensuring transparency and trust in their outputs.
Create prototypes, conduct pilot tests, gather feedback, and refine models to enhance alignment with real-world operations.
Lead investigations into anomalies or emerging patterns within the supply chain through deep-dive analyses.
Work alongside engineering and science teams to leverage models in production and expand insights across various regions.
Stay updated on best practices in machine learning, statistics, and data science, and promote the adoption of effective tools and methodologies.
The SCPO team is dedicated to optimizing Amazon's supply chain from suppliers to customers, developing analytical tools and machine learning models to enhance forecasting, inventory planning, and network execution. By joining us, you'll operate at the intersection of science, technology, and operations, collaborating with various departments to improve both daily operations and long-term strategies.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
4+ years of experience as a data scientist.
Expertise in statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.
A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
Familiarity with the AWS tech stack (e.g., Redshift, S3, EC2, Glue).
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in data visualization using tools like AWS QuickSight, Tableau, or R Shiny.
Experience managing data pipelines.
Proven leadership and mentorship experience within a data science team.
