The Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) team is an emerging function within Customer Engagement Technology, dedicated to setting the standard for data strategy. We focus on enhancing customer interactions through Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), Agentic AI, Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), Ontology, and Natural Language Processing (NLP). As a Lead Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in driving customer-focused, AI-driven innovations that improve experiences across Amazon Customer Service globally.
Your expertise in data science will be invaluable in developing scalable solutions, prioritizing projects effectively, and delivering impactful business results. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team, including scientists, engineers, and product managers, to create maintainable AI solutions for both structured and unstructured data.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data science use cases based on data availability and business impact.
Develop innovative solutions to complex challenges, including enhancing conversational assistant functionalities.
Utilize technical expertise to implement novel algorithms and collaborate with other scientists and engineers.
Analyze data to define metrics, identify actionable insights, and measure improvements in customer experience.
Communicate insights and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences through written reports and presentations.
Work with product management and engineering teams to integrate and optimize models in production systems.

Qualifications
5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
4+ years of data scientist experience.
Proficient in building statistical models, such as multinomial logistic regression.
Master's degree preferred.
2+ years of experience with data visualization tools like AWS QuickSight, Tableau, or R Shiny.
Experience managing data pipelines.
Previous leadership and mentorship experience within a data science team.
