Our team, composed of industry veterans, is dedicated to developing compelling AAA multiplayer games and original intellectual properties (IPs), collaborating across various locations including Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop robust, scalable, and reusable engine components incorporating ML, RL, and Generative AI for use in leading game engines like Unreal and Unity.
Work closely with Applied Scientists to transition their research and prototypes into production-ready game engine features.
Create a middleware layer that allows seamless integration of AI technologies across multiple game projects and platforms.
Partner with game teams to implement AI-driven features into their game systems and workflows.
Optimize AI features for performance to meet real-time game engine requirements.
Contribute to the architecture and design of game systems leveraging AI technologies.
Collaborate with other Amazon teams to identify and develop shared AI tools and technologies.
Keep abreast of new advancements in game engine technologies and AI applications in gaming.
Evaluate and integrate third-party AI solutions to enhance our game systems.
Mentor junior engineers, promoting software engineering best practices and responsible AI implementation.
Champion the ethical use of AI in games, considering player experience and fairness.

About Our Team:
The Amazon Games Studio AI Research team is dedicated to pioneering artificial intelligence innovations in gaming. Our diverse, multi-disciplinary team collaborates across ML, RL, and Generative AI to redefine game development and enhance the gaming experience. Together, we work closely with first-party game developers and partner studios, with a commitment to using AI responsibly while transforming gameplay and enriching narratives.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3 years in game development.
Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with game engines (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary).
5+ years of experience in leading design or architecture of software systems.
Experience in developing reusable software components and APIs.
Demonstrated ability as a mentor or tech lead in engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Knowledge of generative AI model development and deployment.
Familiarity with cloud-based AI services and their application in game systems.
Understanding of GPU programming and optimization techniques for game AI.
Solid foundation in computer graphics, game physics, and real-time systems.
A track record of shipping games that incorporate advanced AI techniques.
Contributions to open-source projects or game development tools.
Proven leadership in managing complex software projects and mentoring peers.
