Machinist Assistant 11903Company:The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Machinist Assistant to support our manufacturing team located in Portland, Oregon.Machine Assistants in this position assist Machine Operators in the performance of their work.Position Responsibilities:Sweep, clean and pick up material, parts, etc., to maintain machinery, equipment, benches, shop, storage and work areas to keep in an orderly condition.Move boxes, material, parts, tools, benches, equipment, blueprints, dollies, skids, etc.; pack and unpack boxes and crates.Assist with chip handling/management (e.g. clean-up, removal, etc.).Stage work in/out of assigned work area and buffer zones as required.Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, shop mathematics, etc., to accomplish work assignment.Work with and interpret charts, set-up documents, control media, orders, blueprints, documents, and tooling.Refer to parts, prints, templates, work orders, etc., for dimensions and finish information.Perform any bench work necessary to finish parts to required engineering specifications., e.g., file, scrape and/or clean parts, finish edge radii and chamfers.Check and adjust levels of oils and coolants.Assist in detecting tool quality (e.g., fixtures, cutting tools) and take corrective action in accordance with shop practices and shop procedures.Operate overhead crane and other shop equipment, such as riding stackers, to facilitate material, parts, fixtures and tool movement.Determine location and type and apply part number/serial number as required to complete work assignment.Perform other duties similar in kind and complexity.This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
