At HED, we look to Sector Operations Leaders to lead and direct overall project management and operations activities for the sector nationwide. The role supports the business leader and sector leaders in managing operational processes with a focus on improving overall project performance.
In coordination with the business leader, review and approve proposals regarding scope, risk, and resource management. Serve as an interface between corporate operations and finance related to project financial reports. The Operations Leader also engages with peers firm-wide to coordinate staff assignments.

TYPICAL DUTIES
Assist project managers with upfront planning to ensure quality documents within established hour budgets and support them in meeting performance objectives.
Assist with recruiting and developing highly qualified project managers with relevant sector expertise.
Conduct performance and feedback reviews with project managers and provide input for year-end reviews and promotions.
Ensure project managers follow the HED design process and complete quality review milestones.
Work with project teams to advance client objectives and support HED core principles.
Support evaluation of professional service consultants and establish a resource for consulting services.
Assist with review of prime and consultant agreements to mitigate risk, coordinating with legal counsel as needed.
Monitor financial performance of sector projects and guide project managers accordingly.
Assist corporate finance with current project financial performance for reports and projections.
Support development of fees and proposals, analyzing scope, resources, and risk.
Evaluate sector workload, staff assignments, and project planning, coordinating resource sharing across sectors.
Collaborate with other operations leaders to improve workflows, policies, and procedures.
Lead weekly sector staffing and operations meetings.
Oversee daily operational activities and provide guidance on standards, policies, and procedures.
Use weekly meetings to discuss issues and direct sector and project activities.
Represent the company in emergencies related to jobsites and clients.
Review and monitor risk management issues with leadership and legal teams.
Represent the company professionally in the community.
Function as project manager or principal-in-charge for certain clients.
Perform other duties as delegated by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field; experience may substitute for degree.
Professional Licensure required.
LEED Accreditation is a plus.
Minimum of fifteen years’ professional experience in the A/E industry.
Extensive operational management experience.
Experience in project financial and risk management.
Comprehensive knowledge of professional services from business development to project close-out.
Understanding of design discipline coordination.
Strong business acumen, including risk management and business planning.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well under deadlines and with diverse teams.
Leadership, influence, and persuasion skills with integrity.
Experience with federal projects and familiarity with FAR and government regulations is preferred.
Current or prior security clearance is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel to project sites domestically and internationally.
Access to project sites for observation and evaluation.
Use of office equipment for communication and documentation.
Visual acuity for responsibilities.
