Sr. Contracts Manager - GSA Operations (Hybrid role - Herndon, VA or Huntsville,

This is a hybrid position requiring residence within commuting distance of either Herndon, VA, or Huntsville, AL.
This role serves as the central Contracts group point of contact supporting multiple Akima Operating Companies in their interactions with the General Services Administration (GSA). The Senior Contracts Manager will manage existing GSA awards, lead GSA Schedule modifications, and support new GSA awards and schedules. This position collaborates closely with Akima’s GWAC Program Management Office (PMO) and provides contractual guidance for GSA MAS activities.
In addition, the individual may oversee traditional Contracts Management responsibilities, including managing contractual agreements of medium to high risk and value, requiring independent judgment and a strong understanding of FAR/DFARS, GSA Federal Schedules, Federal IDIQ, GWACs, MACs, and agency-specific regulations. The Senior Contracts Manager will be the primary contact for assigned Operating Companies, overseeing all Contracts-related functions.
Responsibilities
GSA Related Responsibilities: Manage all active MAS and GWAC contracts, including GSA OASIS+, GSA STARS III, GSA Polaris, across categories. Prepare GSA reports (CAF, IFF) and execute Transactional Data Reporting (TDR). Manage Schedule Input Reporting (SIP). Update responsible parties and Authorized Negotiators. Serve as System Administrator for GSA Assist and GSA eBuy. Perform GSA sales reporting and CAF remittance. Lead evaluation and response for GSA-related CPARS. Manage eOffer/eMod submissions. Contract Management Responsibilities: Develop contract strategies and provide input on strategic opportunities. Partner with operations to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies. Lead contract negotiations and oversee contract implementation and administration. Ensure compliance with SBA 8(a) program requirements and regulations. Review terms of awards for appropriateness. Draft and negotiate contracts, modifications, and related documents. Administer various contract types and handle modifications, options, and closeouts. Coordinate with finance, leadership, and contracting personnel. Provide training on contract topics as needed. Manage contract funding and modifications. Qualifications
Proven success in GSA-specific responsibilities listed above. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with 7+ years of experience, or 10+ years relevant experience with a high school diploma/GED. Experience managing various contract types (IDIQ, FFP, T&M, etc.). Strong knowledge of SBA’s 8(a) program and related regulations. Experience with contract pricing, modifications, and closeouts. Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, GSA schedules, IDIQ, GWACs, and agency regulations. Experience with audits and corrective actions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Ability to obtain Security Clearance. Desired Qualifications
Experience in small business or 8(a)/ANC environments. Negotiation and management of 8(a) sole-source contracts. Knowledge of SBA regulations and NCMA certification is a plus. Experience with international or commercial contracts is desirable. Physical Demands & Working Conditions
